The Class of 2005 has chosen Antonio Valla '05 as their Alumni Council Representative in an internet vote that concluded April 10. Valla will assume his role when Brian Edmonson's term ends this summer.
Valla was elected over a slate of six other candidates during a voting period that ran from March 24 through April 10. Almost three hundred '05s voted in the election, representing over 25% of the class.
"The further we are from graduating the more we realize the value and uniqueness of our Dartmouth experience," Valla said. "I want to help keep strong ties between the young alumni, the administration and the current Dartmouth undergrads."
Valla is finishing up a masters degree in urban planning at Harvard. As an undergrad, he was involved with Glee Club, Xado, Sigma Nu and Mens Project.
Valla's responsibilities as '05 Representative will be to serve as a liaison between the Class of 2005 and the College and Alumni Offices. As a member of the Council, Valla will be expected to attend two meetings a year in Hanover, usually during the weekend of Green Key and the first weekend of December.
It will also be his duty to report back to the Class of 2005 bi-annually covering the topics discussed at the meetings, and to take feedback from our class to the meetings.
By joining the Council, Valla will become an ex-officio member of the Class of 2005 Executive Committee.
