Meet our
Class of 1966 Dickey Interns
in the
John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding

Amy Flaster 08' is a Geography major and a Chemistry minor, on a Pre-Medical track. Interested in public health, and keen to return to the banks of the Rhone River after a term in Lyon, France on an LSA, Amy spent her junior fall interning at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. As an intern, her efforts were focused on Avian Influenza. Back at Dartmouth, Amy shadows physicians at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, does endocrinology research, is an Undergraduate Advisor and an Eating Disorder Peer Advisor, and enjoys singing with the Dartmouth Subtleties a cappella group. After graduation in June, Amy plans to attend medical school.

Jonathan Silverthorne '08 is a double major in History and Russian Area Studies from Washington, D.C. A major reason he chose Dartmouth is its excellent language program and travel opportunities. He has studied French, Russian and Arabic at Dartmouth and studied abroad in Paris, France and St. Petersburg, Russia. Last spring he returned to Russia to work as the cultural affairs intern at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow. While in Moscow, Jonathan got a taste of the diplomatic career that has fascinated him for years and gained an appreciation for the role that cultural dialogue plays in international relations. At Dartmouth he is president of the Russian Club, enjoys playing tennis and squash, and works at the Rauner Rare Books library. After graduating Jonathan plans to enter intensive language programs for Russian and Arabic and eventually pursue a career in international relations or international law.
