Dartmouth College's Hopkins Center for the Arts has been awarded $5 million from The Howard Gilman Foundation to endow the center's directorship, providing resources to support the director's position and venture funds for new Hopkins Center initiatives. The late Howard Gilman, a prominent New York arts benefactor whose family has made substantial gifts to the College, was a member of Dartmouth's Class of 1944. In honor of the gift, the Hopkins Center director will hold the title "Howard Gilman Director of the Hopkins Center."
12/23/07 Al Hormel Note
Al wrote to me saying ," I just sent off the next newsletter to Hanover dated
"Very Early 2008" in hopes it will get out before Easter and I 'm afraid it may
be my last one for it was murder to finish! We have two main problems:
everyone else's handwriting is getting worse and so is my eyesight which is
a splendid combination. I can no longer easily read the letters on the keyboard
- I used to be a fast typist but not a touch typist and now I am neither."
Al has always done a marvelous job and will be a very hard act to follow !!! Any volunteers?
11/09/07 65th Reunion Directory
We are planing to have for our Grand 65th Reunion a new directory which will include:
Classmate's full name, name of wife, or widow's name and name of her husband,
address, phone #, E-mail address, and where applicable, the 2nd home address, phone#,
email address if different, and if it's a summer or winter residence. We want this to be as accurate as possible, so please be sure to send in any changes that may have occurred
since our 2004 directory.

12/27/07 Eric Barradale is recovering at home from heart bypass surgeory @DMC.
and doing very well at last report.
Betty Musser, one of our class secretaries, fell and broke knee cap.
She is home now after a rather long stay a DMC due to some complications.
She won't be using her computer. Contact

10/2/07 Mini reunion a great success. 55 attended Friday's dinner and class meeting.
At 10:30 AM Brunch catered by Hanover Inn by our tent roof next to Sphinx
we enjoyed watching Stan Barr lead the Dartmouth band up the street to come to
play for us. This was followed by a most exciting victory of the football team over
University of Pennsylvania. The first since 1997.

12/26/07 Our class secretaries still need some help as noted from them below.
The Co-Secretaries, Helena and Betty would like help from the
classmates in writing the column for the Dartmouth Alumni
Magazine. We have run out of idea's - do you have any idea's that
you could send us??? We are also asking for "guest authors",
which would include writing a 300 word column of a topic of your
choice. You would send it to us, we would edit it, finish it off
w/the obituaries and deliver it to the DAM by the due date. One
topic we are planning is on grandchildren of classmates who attended or
are attending Dartmouth or have graduated. We could use this
