Eric Barradale

Election for the position of Dartmouth College Alumni Council post-55th reunion representative. Today from seven nominees entered for this position, I’m most proud to announce that the presidents from these classes joined me in choosing our own Eric Barradale to hold this position for the next three years. I’m sure all of you join me in congratulating Eric in his being chosen to hold this important post.

Class 1944 Quarterly Luncheon Report February 16, 2010 from Betty Musser

Hello Penn, I am writing you a review of today's 1944 luncheon at the request of Joan/Eric Barradale.  They cancelled as the snow was coming down real hard  in  their area and traveling was iffy. So here goes....

The second 1944 luncheon group since the 65th Reunion, met  at the Norwich Inn on Tuesday, February 16th.  Attending were : Alice and  Jim Hardigg;  Esther and Burt Bickford; Libby and Clint Gardner; Mary and Harry Morse;  Helena Burdge;  Betty Musser;  and  Joey  Tate dropped  in for a  brief  visit.   Classmates  sending their  best to all - Betty Munson/Stan Barr;  Bill McElnea;  Bob McLaughry;  and Barradales.

Discussions covered many topics - Betty Musser extended the "best wishes" from the  people who  couldn't  attend.   Burt Bickford  gave a good and very favorable financial  report for  the 65th and the class finances;  Westminster Dog Show and Olympic"s were  major  subjects.  Clint  Gardner  told  us he  is going  to  be a co-author of a new book about memoirs of servicemen from World War II that live at Kendal Assisted Living in Hanover.   He also mentioned about the tapes that were done on several 1944's that were  interviewed and they are at Rauner  Library.  He found his and listened to it.  Lunch  was enjoyed  and time went bye talking about other various topics.  When we went  to leave,  it was snowing  and has continued ever since.  Next luncheon is planned for Tuesday May 18th, 2010 at the Norwich Inn - anyone who may be in the area, we would love to have you attend.  Just contact Ellie Stephenson  (802) 649-5188  or  e.b.stephenson@valley.net

I hope I got everything in correctly - any questions just e-mail Joan/Eric or Penn!!    Best, Betty Musser

                                                        IN COMMUNITY SERVICE

The following letter was received from Allan Monroe ‘59

Dear Penn:                                                                     December 8, 2009

We are thankful to have the great class of 1944 as one of our newest classes to join in supporting  DPCS.  The class gift of $2,000. 00 is being well invested in our DPCS interns and their community work across the country.

While the financial environment challenged charitable giving across the country  (and still does) we believe and hope that the stability of our support for DPSC is based on the supporters understanding of how important it is to have our students contributing to and learning from the people they meet in the communities they serve.  One intern said to me that every time she thinks she has it hard she thinks of the people she met during her internship and their determination.

So, please pass along DPCS’s gratitude and that of its interns to your classmates.

Best Regards,

Allan                               Allan Monroe’59                            cc Clint Gardner
